You're Not Stuck—You're Being Stretched: Finding Purpose in Pain

Some seasons of life just feel heavy...

Progress crawls.

Clarity hides.

And somewhere in the quiet, a voice whispers:

Is this even working?

Am I even moving?

What if the answer is yes—just not in the way you can see yet?

What if you’re not stuck at all?

What if you’re being stretched?

John Maxwell calls it The Law of the Rubber Band:

A rubber band is only useful when it’s stretched.

Slack, it does nothing. Taut, Stretched it becomes purposeful.

You are no different.

Stretching is uncomfortable—sometimes brutally so.

It tests your patience, rattles your confidence, and even shakes your faith.

But that tension—the space between who you are and who you’re becoming—that’s where growth lives.

Tony Robbins puts it plainly:

real change happens when the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of change.

So that discomfort you feel?

That restlessness you can’t ignore?

It’s not a warning sign.

It's a growth signal.

There is purpose in the struggle.

There is preparation in the uncertainty.

There is potential in the pain.

This season is forging something in you—deeper resilience, sharper clarity, and a stronger sense of who you are becoming.

So shift the question.

Instead of asking, “Why is this happening to me?” ask:“What is this stretching producing in me?”

Because this season didn’t come to break you

It came to build you.
